As the popularity of Extreme Sports continues its rise, the concept of Motorcycle Racing has taken on new meaning. From road racing to Grand Prix, to motocross, supercross, and freestyle competition, one thing is for sure: if you race, you are going to fall off your bike on one or more occasions.
That being said, todays motorcycle racing jackets and apparel are designed taking this into consideration, and they compensate by giving you the best possible protection in the most likely places prone to injury. The basic principal is to design garments that will pad the most vulnerable body parts, and allow for a clean slide on asphalt or dirt without bunching up or tearing to shreds.
Racing jackets will and should come with some kind of body armor either fixed inside the jacket, or removable. Armor comes in different forms, from thick foams, to plastic covered compounds, to hard, shock absorbing rubbers.
When considering the purchase of a racing jacket and/or suit, make sure the armor is CE approved. Certifique Europe is a European standard of certification that grades armor on three levels, level 1 being the least protective, level 3 the most.
At the very least, a racing jacket should have protective armor at the shoulders and elbows, and pants should have extra protection at the knee and hip. In the case of a two piece racing suit, the bottom will often be zipped to the jacket, to allow the garment to act as one piece during a slide.
Back protectors are not often found in racing jackets, but there is in some jackets a place to insert one. Since most spinal injuries are caused by blows to the extremities as opposed to direct impact to the back, the back protector is better suited for protection from flying projectiles, and thus is often made from hard plastics.
Another major consideration for a racing jacket is the comfort factor.
Motorcycle jackets are usually made from a combination of materials, the basis of which is leather. Kevlar stitching can be used to insure the strength of the seams, and patches of Kevlar or other high stress synthetic materials are used on particularly vulnerable areas like the shoulders, elbows and knees. Stretch panels of various materials are often employed at strategic locations such as under the arms and at the knee to promote ease of movement in extreme conditions.
Because black leather has a natural tendency to be hot, racing jackets tend to be more colorful than your typical black leather jacket, using combinations of colors, obviously to attract attention to a particular racer, but also in part to reflect the heat of the suns rays. Some racing jackets employ perforated leather to allow the air to penetrate the jacket, and air vents are often used to provide circulation.
With modern synthetics gaining in popularity, many racers are choosing these tough and durable materials over leather because of their coolness, light weight, and waterproof characteristics. It is not uncommon to find legitimate racing gear that forgo the use of leather altogether.
Whereas todays modern day motorcycle racing apparel employ all the technological know how to keep the racer safe and comfortable, racing jackets are also popular within the traditional biker community. A little bit of extra armor never hurts, and because many jackets use removable armor, you don’t have to look so robotic at your local biker bar. Additionally, you dont have to be stick with basic black, the colorful styles often found in the racing jacket genre add another layer of coolness for the biker to choose from!

Most women’s initial excitement that follows the knowledge that they are now pregnant is soon shattered by the realization of the medical financial burden about to confront them. It has been found that maternity insurance coverage for women who fall pregnant is about 87%; other 13% isn’t covered.
The women are faced with having to look to their own resources to meet the costs and may have insufficient funds to get appropriate pre-natal care. If the pregnancy brings about complications the burden will be increased.
Maternity health care is not necessarily covered even where a health insurance plan is paid for. An expensive add-on may need to be included. Some insurers avoid providing maternity plans or treat it as a condition pre-existing. Federal law does not permit this, but there are loopholes.
You may have COBRA (coverage extending from your previous employer). You need to check if maternity health is covered. The cost may be high, but it is certainly worth it.
There are several group plans that provide maternity health coverage to their members. Some may have from 3 months to one year waiting period before access to the benefit is possible. What happens then if one falls pregnant during this gap?
Like Medi-cal in California made states do have programs pregnant women. Other programs, federally sponsored, like Medicaid are mainly for the benefit of low income groups.
The Maternity Card is another option now available. This program designed to provide assistance to pregnant women and is doing quite well. The program covers many aspects maternity medical needs and costs less than standard insurance packages. Generally, maternity coverage is available immediately.
There are other plans though they have exclusion periods, some as long as 30 days. Scrutinize each package offered to ensure that you know all options and restriction before choosing one.
The best advice for women is that they should ensure that they get maternity health insurance at the earliest opportunity, for the whole of their child-bearing years.

One of the biggest reasons for debt in the US is the huge cost of medical bills. It figures then that many people in the US are also without any health coverage.
Most people can get health insurance through their employers, but if you are self-employed or work at a company that offers no health plan, then it becomes quite tough to find affordable insurance.
I used to be self-employed myself several years ago, and so I know how expensive health insurance is to get on your own. Even the simplest of coverage costs thousands of dollars each year. Frankly I had to eventually give it up, because with the little income I was taking in, I just couldn’t afford it. Believe me, that’s a scary feeling not being insured.
Now that I am employed, I am insured through work. Even there isn’t all that cheap, and the rates keep going up. Plus my co-payment went from $10 to $20 this year, a 100% increase. But still I’m glad to have the insurance; it’s still cheaper than getting it on my own.
But if you aren’t lucky enough to get insured through your employer, then you need to look elsewhere. But there are ways to find some affordable health insurance, and the best way I think is through the internet.
A couple of sites to check are www.healthinsurancesavings.com or www.self-employed-health-care.com. They both require you to enter a zip code, so they can show you the best choices in your location.
There are other similar sites you can browse through to find information. But be aware that you may have to divulge personal data about yourself to these sites. Some people aren’t comfortable with doing that, especially over the internet.
If you aren’t comfortable giving such personal information away, you can call the contacts at these sites and speak directly with them, and perhaps you can set up interviews with various providers. All this may sound like a burden and imposition, but you have to do what you have to do if you want affordable health insurance for you and your family.
Being insured, especially if you have a family, is very important in today’s world. So please take it upon yourself to do some research, and find the best health insurance you can afford.

Are you and your spouse worried about what’s happening with your savings, your pension, your children’s college funds, or just staying employed? The Dow Jones is under 10,000 and European banks sound as shaky as the US banks. Do you find yourself fearful of your futures together? Do you find yourselves disagreeing with your partner about how to weather this financial meltdown? Do you find yourselves arguing because one of you makes more money and feels like they have more control over how money is spent? When money gets tight as a result of reduced income or increased mortgage payments and is combined with financial fears of the future, those old money arguments (my money vs. your money) may be causing you problems again. It is time for the two of you to have discussions again about money.
In his book Love & Money, Jeff Opdyke says: “It’s not really about the money. It’s about creating another level of intimacy in your relationship and bestowing trust on each other.” He further recommends joint accounts for couples which explicitly demonstrates the trust you have with your spouse.
When we keep secrets from our spouse about how much we make, how we spend money, or even how much money we have, this indicates a measure of distrust in the other person. When times are tough like now, you need to trust and have faith in your legal and romantic partner. All your money and all your debts are consider joint by the state. If you are not considering them joint, you are losing out. You lose resources that your partner brings to solving financial problems. You lose a feeling of honesty about yourself. And you lose some ability to manage your family finances in the best way possible.
If the two of you are not quite ready to combine your accounts, at least try to agree on and be committed to the following:
1. Agree to live within your means, so that expenses do not exceed your income.
2. Agree to open, honest communication about money.
3. Promise not to blame one another, judge each other, or keep secrets about money.
4. Be prepared to listen to your partner and understand their perspective.
You both need to be fully aware of the family gross and net income, to know where household (and individual) money goes each month and to know how much debt you have and the interest costs you are paying.
If you are unable to have a frank and open discussion about your money with your spouse, you may benefit from seeing a marriage counselor. The National Registry of Marriage Friendly Therapists (www.marriagefriendlytherapist.com) is a good resource for finding a therapist who is invested in helping you save your marriage. If you are unable to curb your spending, you might consider Debtors Anonymous, an organization for people trying to reduce debt and regain solvency. If you need a housing counselor or help with your mortgage, go to the web site of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (www.hud.gov) and click on the Hope for Homeowners link.
It’s important to realize you are not alone. Many couples and families are struggling. Don’t let your marriage be a casualty of the worst financial disaster most of us have ever seen. You and your spouse are in this together. Get the help you need to keep your marriage stable and safe.
If you decide that you might need marriage counseling, check out my website, http://www.PamLipe.com My specialty is marriage and relationship counseling. For 20 years, I have been helping couples find the love and support they want in their marriages. My therapy practice serves the metropolitan area of Minneapolis/St.Paul, MN.

Retail clothing is a cut throat business. Your store needs to operate at peak performance to capture market share in your area. Employees perform thousands of small tasks each day, so it is crucial streamlined procedures are in place. Organizing you store so employees can work at maximum efficiency is equally important. These three tools can keep your store running like a well oiled retail machine, and prevent chaotic work flow. Here is how this modest investment can return thousands of dollars.
The hanger stacker is an absolute essential for any retail clothing store. This device is the best way to store extra hangers around your store. Its unique shape can accommodate all types of clothes hangers, and stores them in a way that prevents tangling. Most models can be purchased for less than $20. Place them at discreet locations around your store so employees will never have to go far to find or replace excess hangers. With hangers readily available your staff can remain on the sales floor by eliminating trips to the back room to retrieve and store hangers. Another great spot is behind the cashiers’ counters where clothes hangers are constantly piling up from customer purchases. With a hanger stacker you can move hundreds of hangers anywhere your store with ease.
If you are maximizing your stores capacity you probably have garments hung on walls and storage racks in high places. A hanger retriever can save employees hours of time over the course of the day by providing quick access to those hard to reach places. Hanger retrievers can be purchased between $18 to $20 dollars. An adjustable model gives a reach between three and five feet. With a hanger retriever there is no need to clutter your store with step stools and ladders.
The scourge of most fashion outlets is piles of clothes under garment racks. Clothes get bumped as customers move up and down the aisles and can easily fall off a hanger. Items lying on the floor can get walked on, dirty and damaged. This gives an atmosphere employees constantly have to pick up and re-hang items. The use of hanger covers can turn this into a thing of the past. Hanger covers are foam or rubber strips that can be slid on or stuck to any clothes hangers and increase the hanger garment friction ratio. An investment of 15 cents each can save your store thousands of dollars in damaged clothing, and provides a cleaner store presentation. Employees will save hours of labor and have more time to spend with customers.
